Routine vision screenings are important to the long-term health of your eyes, even if you’re not aware of any problems. Some eye diseases can lead to severe vision loss if not detected and treated early. Schedule eye examinations every 2 years from ages 4 or 5 through 40, and annually thereafter. People with special risks, such as diabetes, a previous eye trauma, surgery, or a family history of glaucoma, may need an eye exam more frequently.
It is recommended that individuals with diabetes undergo an eye examination annually. If you wear corrective glasses or contact lenses, we recommend an annual exam to ensure that your prescription remains up-to-date.
