Paul Keenan, M.D.
Dr. Paul Keenan, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist fellowship-trained in Cornea and External Diseases of the eye.
Before joining the Harman Eye Center, Dr. Keenan practiced with The Vantage Eye Care Group in the Philadelphia, PA area. He brings more than 28 years of experience evaluating, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of ocular and corneal conditions.
Dr. Keenan graduated from Villanova University with a B.S. in Biology and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He went on to complete an internship at the Wilmington Medical Center in Wilmington, Delaware, followed by an Ophthalmology residency at Cornell University/New York Hospital in Manhattan, NY, where he served as Chief Resident. He subsequently completed a Clinical Fellowship in Cornea and External Disease with the University Ophthalmic Consultants of Washington, Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
Over the past 20 years, Dr. Keenan has remained active in medical education, teaching in multiple academic residency training programs. He has lectured at numerous academic and medical specialty meetings and served as a clinical preceptor for several residency programs. His work has been published in several ophthalmic journals, and he has authored multiple book chapters. He has also been recognized among the “Best Doctors” in the Philadelphia area.
Dr. Keenan is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is also a long-standing member of the New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center Alumni Society and the American Medical Association.
In addition to his clinical and academic accomplishments, Dr. Keenan served as a medical officer in the United States Navy Medical Corps, assigned to the United States Marine Corps. His service included roles as Battalion Surgeon for the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, and Regimental Surgeon for the 2nd Marine Regiment and 2nd Marine Division.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Keenan is an avid sports fan who enjoys following both college and professional athletics. He is also a dedicated reader of history and sports literature. Dr. Keenan and his wife, Nancy, a former elementary school teacher, enjoy traveling and sharing their love of sports. They have a son, Paul, who works in radio in the Philadelphia and Wilmington, Delaware areas.
