Checking In
When you arrive at Harman Eye Center, you'll walk into our comfortable lobby and check in with our friendly and helpful staff.
Consultation
You'll then meet with our refractive coordinator for a no-obligation consultation to learn more about LASIK and whether it's right for you.
Corneal Mapping
To find out if you're a candidate for LASIK, we first measure your prescription by cross-checking the results of three measurements, using infrared, optical and imaging technology. This test makes a topographical image of the cornea.
Wavefront Testing
Next, we analyze your entire visual system with the Wavefront scanner.
Wavefront not only measures low order aberrations, but also higher order imperfections, which can cause impaired night vision, halos and image distortion.
The final measurement is programmed into the laser for utmost accuracy.
Comprehensive Eye Exam
For the final part of your testing, you will have a comprehensive and detailed eye exam to tell us more about your current vision needs. If you're a candidate for LASIK, you'll meet with our LASIK coordinator again to schedule your surgery date.
LASIK Procedure
Dr. Harman and his team perform LASIK in his clean and comfortable laser suite. On the day of the procedure, anesthetic drops are placed into your eyes and we will provide medicine to help you relax. Dr. Harman will explain each step of the process as it happens.
Improving your vision
Dr. Harman will gently reshape the cornea with the cool beam from the laser to remove microscopic amounts of tissue to create a new curvature. The procedure typically takes just minutes per eye and the majority of patients feel no discomfort.
Freedom
After surgery, most patients may notice immediate visual improvement. Before you go home to relax, we'll provide you with the supplies and prescriptions you need. Then Dr. Harman will see you the next day for a follow-up exam to check on your success.
